ABOUT US
What is a Communal Sauna?
A communal sauna is a shared sauna space where people gather to relax, rejuvenate, and experience the health benefits of heat therapy. Unlike private saunas, which are typically for individual and family use, communal saunas are open to multiple users. Each individual will proceed through the Heat Up-Cool Down-Relax & Rehydrate cycle at their own pace, and often take the opportunity to connect with others during the process.
These saunas are designed to accommodate several people comfortably, creating a social yet tranquil environment. Visitors enjoy the sauna’s warmth, which helps to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote detoxification, all while following shared etiquette that ensures a respectful and hygienic experience.
Communal saunas provide a place to unwind and connect with others in a relaxed, health-focused space.

The word “sauna” has deep cultural and historical roots, originating from Finland over 2,000 years ago. In Finnish, sauna means “bath” or “bathhouse” and is used to describe a specially designed space for heat bathing, which traditionally involves high temperatures and steam.
Historically, saunas were central to Finnish life, serving not only as places for relaxation and bathing but also as spaces for social gatherings, health rituals, and even childbirth due to their warmth and cleanliness. Early Finnish saunas were often built as small log cabins with wood-burning stoves, generating high heat and dry steam, which was later enhanced by pouring water over heated stones.
Today, the term “sauna” encompasses a variety of types, including dry saunas, wet saunas, and infrared saunas, all aimed at offering health and relaxation benefits through the power of heat. While the practice originated in Finland, sauna culture has spread globally, symbolizing wellness, cleansing, and community connection in countless cultures around the world.
